Isak spent a week at Slippery Falls in July. I sent him with a battery operated fan to help him stay cool at night, because sleeping in a tent in July in Oklahoma is not normally a cool experience. Strangely enough there was only one hot day -- the very first. The rest of the week was marked with record lows! It went as cold as into the 60s and most of the week was overcast and it rained every day!!! It felt like a bizarre Swedish summer. But it was obviously the best possible weather to spend a week outside, so no complaints. He never used the fan.
He completed merit badges in orienteering, canoeing, nuclear science and environmental science that week. And he had a really great time. Didn't shower a lot, though. But who needs that when you can swim in the lake?
We went down to see him on the second to last day of the camp, for "family night" when families are allowed to eat with the campers and the campers show their families around.
