Creativity

We had snow for 24 hours! Anja made her very own snowman. I almost kept Elina and Isak home so they would play in the snow, too. 50 percent had melted when they got home from school. The whole family played with clay that evening, as consolation and everyone was super focused.

 Anjas snowman

The girl on the left later flattened the snowman with her feet... sigh.
Harmonious Home.

 Elina made a clay donkey.

Isak made a two story building with pre-cut walls and a balcony.

Daddy Daughter Dance 2012

In honor of Charles Dickens' recent 200th birthday, I shall refer to today as "the best of times" and "the worst of times." For Anja, it was the best of times, because she went to her much-anticipated first ever Daddy Daughter Dance. I ordered these ridiculous dresses online from China for very little money and Anja's ended up being way too big. I had to shorten it 8 inches (20 cm), but it was still too long in the torso and could have been taken in at the waist, but Anja would not even consider wearing a different dress! Elina's dress (same style, but dark red color) needed taking in at the wast, of course, (which we did to her dress) but sadly she never had the chance to wear it. At 5 am she woke up with stomach pains and has been vomiting all day. She has not been home from school a single day this school year and THIS is the day she gets sick. So unfair. She and Mark are planning a dinner-date at a nice restaurant instead, when she gets better.

Here are a few pictures of our healthy princess and her prince:

"I throw my hands up in the air sometimes..."

When she came home she declared it the best day of her life.

Vanity

With three girls in the house, there is, at times, some interest in clothes and "smink" (make-up) - 2 year-old Julia included. I cannot count the number of times she has violated my make-up bag. But why limit one-self to actual make-up, when there were so many other ways to get the job done?

Musik

 Under frukosten.

IKEA project

Isak has begged to put this piece together since we got it in December (with Christmas money from my mom and dad. <3 THANKS!!). He LOVES doing "man projects" with his dad! Mark - though filled with humor - did not wish to smile for the camera. "We would not want to give the impression that it is possible to smile while building something from IKEA," was his comment.

The finished product and the happy builders!

Sadie turns 12!!

The Birthday girl got 1/4 of the carrot cake we made for her birthday. Did not even try to get her a table-seat since it would have been contrary to her upbringing.

The kids blew out her candles.
And then Elina and Sofia took their dogs (Sadie and Buddy) and walked them for over an hour,
and played with them at the park.

And then Sadie got to break in her birthday present: her new bed.
She LOVES it!

Julia wanted to wear some make-up for the party and applied lots of mascara...

Jullovsväder

20-22 grader varmt och strålande solsken. Inga myggor, inget svett.

Christmas Day

Christmas Day I started feeling sick. I think I started feeling sick late Christmas Eve, but thought it would go away. Well, I pushed through and cooked and set everything up. At 2 p.m. family arrived and we hustled in the kitchen for a while and then we ate. After we ate, we cleaned up a bit and then opened presents. It was like a bomb had gone off at times in the living room. By the time people began to leave I had to go and lie down.

Our new table seats 12. I was happy to try it out with the leaf inserted.

 Troy carved the turkey.

Elina received a horse and matching doll from Grandma Donna.

Anja got a Rapunzel dress and shoes from Uncle Craig and Aunt Cecilia.

Christmas present mayhem.

Julia in Play-Doh heaven, compliments of Craig and Cecilia.
Isak got this remote control Finn McMissile from the same.
